New Series On Jesus' Words

I'm learning to chase my ideas as they come, instead of arguing to myself why they wouldn't work. I heard a woman the other day giving a speech in San Francisco and she said something I will never forget, that if we knew someone who talked to us the way we talk to ourselves, we would never let them be our friend. I guess it's a mixture of what I want and of what I want to want, if that makes sense.
For now, words are still the best way I know how to express these ideas (however poorly that may be at times). If I could write music I imagine my thoughts would sound like this. Or maybe that's just what I hope they would sound like.

I guess this is a strange way to introduce another series. I'm going to continue Charnock's attributes, but only every Friday. But the main project I want to stay faithful with is one that I've been working on for nearly two months without anyone ever seeing a word, and I wanted it to remain that way until it was finished - but part of this blog's purpose is to keep me consistent and I need the help amidst everything else going on.

It's called Jesus Beside Me, and is basically a series of meditations through Jesus' words in the book of Matthew. I'll also make these a once a week occurrence, as that will give me to time to edit and arrange as needed without rushing. I guess I didn't want to share these at first because they were meant for specific individuals who I've had the privilege of counseling. But I figure, if God would have these few words help them, perhaps they can be a comfort to others as well.

At the end of the day, Jesus is really all that matters. I want to believe that more and I want others to really grab hold of that idea, because it can change everything.

The introduction to the series actually incorporates all four Gospels and is rather long and slightly technical, so the online version will begin in Matthew 4 with the temptation of Christ. There should be a new one up every Monday, probably well into the summer months since I cover only a handful of verses at a time.

I want to begin this series the way I begin each interaction with God's Word, through prayer:

Father, forgive me of my sins.
Remind me of who you are and of who I am, because of Jesus.
Thank you.
Holy Spirit open me up to your Word, and please open up your Word to me.
